Wax Melts
ScentSationals review
It is probably the wax melt brand you already own. It is also the one that tells you least about what you are melting.

The short answer
ScentSationals sells 10 oz of wax for roughly what a premium brand charges for 2 oz, in 24 cubes, with the scent notes named on every listing. It is honest value and the scent briefs are specific. What you give up is everything else: the brand publishes no wax type, no hours figure and no ingredient statement anywhere - not on Amazon and not on its own website. Buy it for volume and a named scent. Buy Happy Wax or Milkhouse if you want to know what you are melting.

What ScentSationals publishes, and what it does not
This site ranks brands on what they write down, because a fragrance is the one product you cannot inspect before buying. By that standard ScentSationals is the mirror image of our top-ranked brand: generous with the scent brief, silent on the product.
| What a buyer needs | Published? | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Net weight | Yes - 10 oz | Every listing title |
| Cube count | Yes - 24 | Every listing title |
| Scent notes | Yes - named, three to six per scent | Listing bullet one |
| Country of manufacture | Yes - made in the USA | Listing bullet three |
| Wax type (soy, paraffin, blend) | No | Nowhere |
| Hours per cube or per pack | No | Nowhere |
| Fragrance source (oil, essential oil) | No | Nowhere |
| Dose (how many cubes) | Only on the warmer listing | Accent warmer bullet three |
Two of those absences matter more than the rest. No wax type means the most-asked question about this brand - is it paraffin? - cannot be answered from anything the company publishes. And no hours figure means it cannot be entered into the only value calculation that works in this category. We set that calculation out on what an hour of fragrance actually costs; ScentSationals is one of the brands that cannot be measured by it.
What it does publish is better than it sounds. A listing that names vanilla bean, honey and tonka rather than printing "Vanilla" is telling you the fragrance is sweet and slightly powdery rather than bakery - and that is the distinction people actually get wrong when buying blind.
Who actually makes it
The listings name the manufacturer as Rimports, LLC, which is the supplier behind most of the supermarket-channel home fragrance you have seen. ScentSationals is the brand name; Rimports is the company. That is not a criticism - it explains the product.
A supplier operating at that scale optimizes for shelf price and scent variety, which is exactly what this range is: hundreds of fragrances, six published families (fresh, floral, wood, fruit, bakery and spice), and a cube that costs very little per ounce. It does not optimize for the kind of disclosure a small maker uses to justify a premium, because it does not need to.
One practical consequence: individual scents come and go. While checking stock for this review, one 10 oz vanilla listing we had previously indexed went to "Currently unavailable" and had to be replaced with the current listing for the same product. If you find a ScentSationals scent you love, buy it again before you need it - the brand is reliable, any given SKU is not.
The cube is 0.42 oz, and that is the useful number
Ten ounces across twenty-four cubes works out at roughly 0.42 oz a cube. That single figure decides more about how this brand behaves in your house than anything else on the pack.
| Brand | Pack | Per piece |
|---|---|---|
| Milkhouse | 5.5 oz, 6 cubes | About 0.92 oz |
| Febreze | 2.75 oz, 6 cubes | About 0.46 oz |
| ScentSationals | 10 oz, 24 cubes | About 0.42 oz |
| Yankee Candle | 2.6 oz, 6 cubes | About 0.43 oz |
| Happy Wax | 2 oz, about 16 shapes | About 0.125 oz |
At 0.42 oz, a ScentSationals cube is a normal single dose: one cube fills a standard dish without overflowing it, and two is a generous dose for a large room. It is a far more sensible size than Milkhouse's 0.92 oz bar cube, which has to be broken in half for a plug-in - and far easier to over-dose with than a Happy Wax shape, which is a seventh of the size. The dosing logic by dish is on how many wax melts to put in a warmer.
The format is a clamshell, and the listings we checked are packaged as four blocks inside the 10 oz pack rather than one slab of twenty-four. That is worth knowing if you were planning to store it: four small clamshells keep their scent better than one large one you keep opening - how to store wax melts covers why.
The one dose instruction the brand publishes
ScentSationals publishes no dosing advice on any melt listing. It publishes it on the Accent warmer listing instead, where most buyers will never see it, and it is more conservative than you would expect:
- "Use 1 cube at a time and recycle until the fragrance is depleted." One 0.42 oz cube, not two.
- "Turn on the warmer for an hour in the morning and in the evening." Two hours a day, not continuous running.
- "Never pry wax out of the dish." The listing's own removal method is cotton balls to soak up the liquid wax, or a two-to-three minute reheat to soften it.
That run pattern is the brand quietly conceding something useful: a wax melt is for the hours you are in the room. It also happens to be the cheapest way to run one - two hours a day on a 10 W warmer is a fraction of a cent, as how much electricity a wax warmer uses works through.
The warmers, and the thing they do not publish
ScentSationals sells more warmer designs than anyone else in the supermarket channel - decorative ceramics, glass, lanterns, seasonal shapes - plus plug-ins and the FUSION starter bundles that pair a warmer with cubes.
The hardware criticism is specific and it applies across the range: no rated wattage, no timer and no named certification on the listings we checked. On a plug-in that sits in an outlet unattended, a rated power figure is the thing we most want to see, and it is also the input to every running-cost calculation on this site. Compare that with the plug-in warmers we rank, where the top picks publish a wattage, or with the warmers that publish a shut-off.
If you want a ScentSationals warmer because you want the look, that is a legitimate reason and the range is genuinely the widest there is - cute wax warmers is the page for that decision. If you want to leave a warmer running while you are out of the room, buy a warmer with a published timer instead, from any brand.
Cheap per ounce, unknowable per hour
Per ounce, ScentSationals is among the cheapest wax on this site, and the 10 oz pack is the reason. Per hour - the figure that actually decides value - it cannot be computed at all, because no hours figure exists.
That is not a technicality. A pack with a published 240 hours can beat a cheaper pack on cost per hour while costing three times as much on the shelf, which is why we rank documentation rather than price in the brands roundup. With ScentSationals you are buying ounces and hoping they convert into hours at the usual rate. In our experience of this format they roughly do - a 0.42 oz cube behaves like other 0.4 oz cubes - but that is an inference from the weight, not something the maker will stand behind.
Assumption, not a fact
We have not measured scent hours for any product on this site and we do not intend to pretend otherwise. Where a maker publishes an hours figure we use it and say so; where none exists, as here, the honest statement is that cost per hour is unknown.
Who should buy it, and who should not
Buy it if you scent more than one room, you already know which scent families you like, and you would rather have ten ounces of a named fragrance than two ounces of a documented one. For a household that runs a warmer daily, this is the cheapest honest way to do it, and the scent briefs are specific enough to buy blind.
Skip it if you need to know the wax. Anyone avoiding paraffin on principle, anyone with a fragrance sensitivity who wants to read a composition first, and anyone who wants to compute value properly is better served by a brand that publishes more - non-toxic wax melts ranks the field on exactly that, and melts for a fragrance-sensitive household takes it further.
The whole field, ranked on the same criteria, is on the best wax melts. ScentSationals does not lead it, and the reason is this page.
The picks in full
Most vanilla wax per pack

ScentSationals Vanilla Bean Scented Wax Melts, 10 oz
The most wax of any vanilla here, from the only mass-market listing that bothers to say what kind of vanilla it is.
Best for a household that already knows it likes vanilla: the biggest single-scent vanilla pack we index, with the notes named rather than left to the word.
- Published notes: vanilla bean, honey and tonka. That is a specific brief - sweet and slightly powdery rather than bakery - and most supermarket vanillas publish nothing at all.
- 10 oz across 24 cubes is the biggest single-scent vanilla pack we index, which suits a household that already knows it likes this one.
- No wax type, no hours, no fragrance source. The scent notes are the only thing this listing tells you beyond weight.

Most wax for the money

ScentSationals Pumpkin Spice Scented Wax Melts, 10 oz
Ten ounces across 24 cubes is the most wax per dollar in this list by a distance, and the reason to buy it is arithmetic rather than character.
Best for seasonal volume. Six named notes on the listing and 10 oz of wax, which is a whole autumn rather than a purchase to use up.
- 10 oz across 24 cubes is about 0.42 oz a cube, in line with the supermarket packs but at roughly four times the quantity.
- Pumpkin, cinnamon and clove is the stated blend. That is a description, not a fragrance disclosure, and no fragrance load is published.
- Buying a season's worth of one scent is a commitment. If you are not certain you like it, a variety pack costs less to be wrong with.

Most lavender wax per pack

ScentSationals Cedar & Lavender Scented Wax Melts, 10 oz
The most wax here, and the version of lavender that reads as a room rather than a spa - cedar and mahogany doing as much work as the flower.
Best for anyone who finds plain lavender cloying - white cedar and mahogany underneath it make this the driest lavender in the registry.
- Published notes: lavender, white cedar and mahogany, with amber and marine moss. That is a woody fragrance with lavender in it, not a lavender fragrance.
- 10 oz across 24 cubes is the biggest lavender pack we index, which suits a household that already knows this style suits it.
- No wax type, no hours and no fragrance source. Weight, count and notes are the whole disclosure.

Best brand-matched plug-in

ScentSationals Accent Wax Warmer, Lillian
The warmer the biggest melt brand in America sells alongside its cubes, and the only place the brand publishes a dose for them.
Best brand-matched warmer, and the only place ScentSationals publishes a dose for its own cubes. No timer and no rated wattage.
- The listing carries the one dosing instruction ScentSationals publishes anywhere: "Use 1 cube at a time and recycle until the fragrance is depleted." One 0.42 oz cube is a small dose for a room.
- It also publishes a usage pattern - "turn on the warmer for an hour in the morning and in the evening" - which is the brand conceding that continuous running is not the plan.
- No wattage, no certification mark and no dimensions are published. On a plug-in that sits in an outlet overnight, a rated power figure is the thing we would most want to see.

FUSION by ScentSationals Laurel Wax Melt Warmer Starter Bundle
The one genuine warmer-plus-wax bundle we could verify in stock, and the fastest way to go from nothing to a working setup in one order.
Best way to start from nothing: a warmer and cubes in one box, at the price of a warmer plus two packs bought separately.
- No wattage is published for the warmer anywhere on the listing, so its running cost cannot be computed the way we do for the models that print a number.
- Three fragrances, two packs each. That is a reasonable spread for someone who does not yet know what they like.
- Check the bundle against the same warmer and wax bought separately before you order. On the bundles we looked at the saving was small, and sometimes there was none.

Questions people actually ask
Are ScentSationals wax melts soy or paraffin?
Neither is published. We checked every current listing and the brand's own website on 2026-10-17: there is no wax type, no ingredient statement and no FAQ anywhere. Anyone who tells you these are soy or paraffin is guessing. If the wax type matters to you, buy a brand that states it - Happy Wax, Milkhouse, Shortie's and Fontana all do.
Are ScentSationals wax cubes toxic?
There is no evidence that they are, and no published composition to evaluate either way. What we can say is narrower and more useful: nothing is burned in a warmer, so the combustion products that dominate scented-candle research are not produced, and the fragrance is what reaches the room. Our page on whether wax melts release toxins sets out what is and is not known, and what to do if anyone in the house has asthma or a fragrance sensitivity.
How long does a ScentSationals cube last?
The brand publishes no hours figure, so nobody outside the company can tell you. What is published is 0.42 oz a cube, computed from 10 oz across 24 cubes, and the brand's own advice to use one cube at a time and run the warmer for an hour morning and evening. For context, the two brands that do publish hours work out at roughly 30 hours an ounce.
Have ScentSationals wax melts been discontinued?
The brand has not. Individual scents are discontinued and restocked constantly, which is why searches for particular fragrances often return nothing. One 10 oz vanilla listing we had indexed went unavailable during this review and was replaced with the current listing for the same product. Buy a favorite scent again before you run out.
Is ScentSationals the same as Scentsy?
No. They are different companies with similar names. ScentSationals is a Rimports brand sold through normal retail and on Amazon; Scentsy sells direct through consultants and has no standard retail buy path, which is why we cover it editorially in our brands roundup rather than ranking it. Neither brand's wax is proprietary: any melt works in any electric warmer.
How many ScentSationals cubes should I use?
The brand's own instruction is one cube at a time. At 0.42 oz that fills a standard dish without overflowing it. Two is reasonable in a large or open-plan room; on a plug-in with a small dish, one is the limit. Our page on how many cubes per warmer works through it by dish size.
