Privacy policy

Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages get read and which buy buttons get clicked. That records things like the pages you visit, roughly where in the world you are, what kind of device you are on, and how you arrived. It is aggregate traffic measurement, not an attempt to identify you.

We record a affiliate_click event when someone clicks a buy button. That tells us which of our recommendations people find useful. It carries the page, the merchant and the product identifier - not anything about you personally.

The contact form. If you write to us, we receive your name, your email address and your message, because otherwise we could not reply. That is delivered to our own mailbox via Microsoft Graph and is not added to any list.

Server logs. Our host records standard request logs, which include IP addresses. The contact form also uses your IP address in memory to rate-limit submissions and block automated spam; that is not stored beyond the hour and is not logged anywhere.

• We do not sell or rent your data. To anyone, for any purpose.
• We run no newsletter and no mailing list. There is nothing to subscribe to, so nothing to be added to.
• We run no display advertising and carry no third-party ad trackers or retargeting pixels.
• We have no user accounts, so there is no password or profile to be stolen.
• We do not take payments, so we never see card details. Purchases happen entirely on the retailer's site.

When you click a buy button you are sent through our own /go/ route, which adds our tracking tag and forwards you to the retailer. The retailer - Amazon, in practice - then knows the visit came from us, which is how a commission gets attributed.

Once you land there, you are on their site under their privacy policy, not ours. Amazon typically sets a cookie so a purchase made within a window is credited to the referring site. We do not receive your name, your address, your order contents or your payment details - only aggregate reporting of what was bought and what commission was earned.

We set no cookies of our own. Google Analytics sets its own, and the retailer sets one when you follow an affiliate link.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics with Google's browser add-on. The site works normally either way - nothing here is gated behind analytics.

Depending on where you live you may have the right to ask what data we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, or to object to it being processed.

Practically, the only thing we are likely to hold that identifies you is a contact form message. Ask and we will delete it. Email info@thewaxindex.com or use the contact form.

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

If this policy changes materially, the modified date at the top of the page updates. We will not quietly broaden what we collect and leave the date alone.
