By using The Wax Index you accept these terms. If you do not, please do not use the site - there is nothing else you need to do.

The site is published by Slate Mill Group and is provided free of charge. It is an editorial publication. We sell nothing, take no payments, hold no stock and operate no accounts.

We work hard on accuracy - every specification carries its source and the date we read it, and the methodology page sets out exactly how each claim is arrived at. Even so, the information here is provided as is, with no warranty of any kind.

Specifically, and stated plainly because it matters:

• We have not tested any of these products. Every specification comes from what a manufacturer or retailer publishes. Published specifications can be wrong, and products change without notice.
• Prices change constantly. Where we show one it is stamped with the date it was checked, and where we cannot verify one we show none. The price at the retailer is the only price that counts.
• Availability changes. A product we recommend may be discontinued, reformulated or out of stock.
• Our cost calculations rest on stated assumptions - an electricity rate and a daily running time - which are labeled everywhere they are used and which are almost certainly not your numbers.

Decisions you make on the basis of anything here are yours. We are not liable for loss arising from use of this site or from any product bought through it.

Some pages here discuss fire risk, electrical safety and the effect of essential oils on animals. Those pages report what named authorities publish and link to them. They are not advice.

Nothing on this site is veterinary advice. Nobody here holds a veterinary or medical credential. We never state that a specific product is safe for a specific animal, and you should not read us as having done so. If you are concerned about an animal, contact a veterinarian. Nothing here is medical advice. If you have asthma, a fragrance sensitivity or any respiratory condition, speak to a doctor rather than to a website.

Follow the manufacturer's instructions for any warmer or wax you own. Where our guidance and a manufacturer's instructions differ, theirs governs - they made the thing.
